Firefox 3 is a Download Record Breaker

19 06 2008

Brand: Firefox 3

Brand: Burger King

Brand: Madame Tussauds

It’s been quite a good day today for PR stories, with Burger King managing to get coverage for their £95 burger (er, it’s been done many times before though).  Pic of the day goes to Madame Tussaud’s for sticking Audrey Hepburn in a greasy spoon to do the whole ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ thing (shame they’re currently embroiled in a row over Hitler’s waxwork at the same time).

But the big winner, certainly online (currently at over 1,000 online articles) is the launch of Firefox 3, where they claim to have set the world record for the most number of downloads in 24 hours at 8 million clocked.  I’m not sure if Guinness count BitTorrent and other less-legal sources though, in which case it’d probably be the final episode of Heroes, Season 1.
